Seventeen years after disrupting the hotel industry, Airbnb is now competing with it on services—without requiring a booking.

Airbnb ended 2024 with a record $11.1 billion in revenue.
In a major expansion of its offerings, Airbnb announced it will launch a variety of hospitality-related services, including catering, fitness training, professional photography, and beauty treatments such as hair, nails, and spa services, Andrew Nusca reported for Fortune Tech.
“Now you can Airbnb more than an Airbnb,” CEO Brian Chesky said, offering what may become a new catchphrase in tech.
The company also revamped its nine-year-old Experiences platform, which hosts local-led activities. New offerings will focus on quality and affordability—like a tour of Notre Dame Cathedral led by a restoration architect or a ramen-making class taught by a Tokyo chef.
Airbnb ended 2024 with a record $11.1 billion in revenue, up 12% from the previous year. The company says it will invest at least $250 million into new initiatives aimed at enhancing guest experiences and expanding revenue beyond lodging.
