Under the agreement, announced by Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, Altice will invest $40 million in internet infrastructure upgrades across West Virginia through 2027. Additionally, the company will provide $4 million in customer credits and pay the state $500,000.

Altice entered the settlement without admitting to violations of the state’s Consumer Credit and Protection Act.

“This is years in the making and a big win for the consumers in West Virginia,” Morrisey said. Altice operates in the state under the Optimum brand, previously known as Suddenlink Communications.

In 2022, Suddenlink was fined $2.2 million by the Public Service Commission for neglecting customer complaints, reducing staffing and maintenance, and altering its communication methods.
