Andy Burnham Vows Stability as UK's Seventh Prime Minister in a Decade

Andy Burnham pledged to restore political stability after becoming the United Kingdom's seventh prime minister in a decade, Catherine Nicholls reported for CNN.

In his first speech as prime minister, Burnham promised to make politics "work better," said Britain must "regain our stability," pledged to end rough sleeping across the UK, and vowed to uphold the country's defense commitments with international partners.

Burnham is expected to announce appointments to his Cabinet from the governing Labour Party after being invited by King Charles III to form a government.

Global leaders have already congratulated Burnham on assuming office.

Outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer formally resigned following a final address outside Downing Street, calling it the "privilege of my life" to serve and wishing Burnham "every success," Lauren Said-Moorhouse also reported for CNN.
