Anthropic is preparing to go public later this fall in an offering that could become a major test of investor appetite for artificial intelligence companies.

The IPO could generate substantial gains for the AI model maker’s unusually broad base of private investors while putting its financial relationships with some of its largest backers under greater public scrutiny, David Hollerith reported for Yahoo Finance.

From technology giants and Wall Street money managers to hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds and more than 100 Silicon Valley venture-capital firms, Anthropic has raised about $130 billion from 300 institutional investors, according to PitchBook data cited by Yahoo Finance.

The precise potential gains for those investors will depend on the IPO price and the stakes they ultimately retain.

Anthropic was valued at about $965 billion in May after a major funding round, according to reports. The company has not publicly disclosed its full financial statements, and the terms and timing of the IPO remain subject to change.

Bankers have discussed an offering that could raise as much as $100 billion at a valuation of about $2 trillion, according to a Wall Street Journal report cited by Yahoo Finance.

If completed at that scale, the deal would surpass SpaceX’s June 2026 listing as the largest IPO on record.

Anthropic’s planned offering comes as investors reassess the enormous valuations assigned to leading AI companies. The IPO could therefore become an important test of whether public-market investors are willing to support valuations that have risen sharply in the private market.
