"Asian Persuasion” Triumphs With Audience Award Win At Soho International Film Festival

The film "Asian Persuasion" has achieved a significant feat by securing the prestigious Audience Award for Best Full-Length Film at the renowned Soho International Film Festival, held on September 21, 2023, at Fushimi Times Square in Manhattan.

In addition, the film was among the eight nominees for Best U.S. Showcase Feature Film. This remarkable achievement comes with "Asian Persuasion," marking the directorial debut of Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway producer Jhett Tolentino.

The film is produced by Jhett Tolentino himself and Mike Ang, who also made his debut as a screenwriter for this project. The cast boasts notable talents, including Dante Basco ("Hook," "The Fabulous Filipino Brothers"), KC Concepcion ("For the First Time"), Paolo Montalban ("Cinderella"), and Kevin Kreider ("Bling Empire").

Notably, "Asian Persuasion" was shot in New York City and features a predominantly Asian cast and production team, representing 21 different countries, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet, and Vietnam.

After receiving the Audience Award, the jubilant team behind "Asian Persuasion" expressed their heartfelt gratitude on social media, extending their thanks to those who cheered and voted during the world premiere.

KC Concepcion, in an Instagram post, expressed her excitement about the film's win and shared her "big love to the entire production."

The film's plot revolves around a down-on-his-luck chef, Mickey de Los Santos (Dante Basco), and his best friend Caspian (Kevin Kreider), who concoct an audacious scheme to find a suitor for Mickey's ex-wife, Avery Chua (KC Concepcion).

They create a fake internet dating profile to help her remarry and avoid hefty alimony payments.

Upcoming screenings of "Asian Persuasion" in the United States include the Richmond International Film Festival on September 28, 2023, and the San Diego Filipino Film Festival on October 8, 2023.

For fans in the Philippines, the film is set to be released nationwide on November 29th.
