This program aims to transform conflict-ridden areas in Mindanao into thriving economic centers.

The irrigation project, expected to serve over 10,000 hectares of farmland across Cotabato and Maguindanao provinces, symbolizes a significant step towards revitalizing the region's agriculture sector.

Pikit, once dubbed the crime capital of Region 12 due to ongoing violent clashes, is envisioned to transition into an economic hub with the project's anticipated impact on rice and agricultural production.

President Marcos emphasized the transformative potential of the irrigation project, envisioning abundant harvests that would uplift local communities and contribute to sustainable peace and prosperity.

He underscored the project's alignment with the administration's "Bagong Pilipinas" program, which aims to harness peace dividends to drive economic growth and development.

Beyond its agricultural significance, President Marcos highlighted the MMIP II as a crucial infrastructure for peace and development, emphasizing its role in fostering peace and democracy in conflict-affected areas.

The project is expected to benefit over 4,000 farmers, including former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants, offering them opportunities for livelihood amidst challenges such as the prevailing El Niño phenomenon.

The MMIP II project represents a legacy of the administration's commitment to transforming conflict zones into peaceful and prosperous regions.

It builds upon the vision set forth by former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., underscoring the continuity of efforts across generations to promote agricultural productivity and socio-economic development in Mindanao.

As NIA Administrator Eddie Guille noted, the project's completion is a testament to the government's enduring commitment to peace and development, reflecting the vision and leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
