Beginning Of The End For McCarthy: The Independent

The Independent believes US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is motivated by the politics of revenge as he has vowed to kick out Reps. Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff from the House Intelligence Committee and Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

McCarthy is backed by the GOP lunatic fringe and his fate as speaker is subject to the whims of the likes of Reps. Matt Gaetz, Lauren Bobert and Marjorie Taylor Greene.

He claims Swallwell could not get a security clearance from the private sector, Schiff is a pathological liar and Omar is anti-semitic, all of which are off-kilter and betrays just how deep McCarthy has sunk in the ocean of disinformation.

In the regular column Inside Washington, The Independent said: “But let’s be clear, this is not about whether someone’s remarks are antisemitic or whether someone’s actions are a threat to national security. Rather, Mr. McCarthy’s own words to Punchbowl News revealed his true intentions, when he said ‘Remember, this is what Nancy Pelosi, this is the type of Congress she wanted to have.’

McCarthy’s remarks are specifically in reference to the fact that under the previous Congress, Democrats removed Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committees.

Incidentally, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is Jewish, sponsored the legislation that kicked Greene off her committees and later supported Omar when an islamophobic joke Rep. Lauren Boebert made led to the Somali-born congresswoman receiving threats.

The House also House voted to censure and strip Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona of his committees after he posted a video of the anime “Attack on Titan,” where a character with his head killed a character with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's head.

McCarthy pledged to restore both Republicans to their committees and to kick off those three Democrats. Oddly, for most of the speaker’s fight, the two Republicans were split: Greene supported Mr. McCarthy’s bid for speaker early while Gosar nominated fellow Arizonan Andy Biggs initially before later flipping his vote for McCarthy.

“At its core, Mr. McCarthy’s actions are more about revenge than about whether conduct is unbecoming of a member,” The Independent stressed. It failed to argue that McCarthy has become a puppet of the GOP lunatic fringe and he has no stones to fight them.
