Gina Maria’s Pizza abruptly shut down its four Minneapolis-area locations in October without prior notice to customers, Carsen Holaday reported for The Independent.

A bankruptcy filing dated March 26 showed the company had $2.9 million in debts and just $64,000 in assets. Its parent company, Northern Brands Inc., filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, indicating the business will likely be liquidated rather than restructured.

Gina Maria’s began in 1975 in Minnetonka before expanding across the Twin Cities, including locations in Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Edina, and Plymouth.

Customers expressed disappointment on social media.

One longtime patron wrote on Facebook that they had frequented the Eden Prairie branch for 25 years and would miss its signature pizzas. Others echoed similar sentiments, describing the chain as a reliable local favorite.
