A cannabis-derived medication significantly reduced nightmares among patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to German researchers, Forbes Daily reported.

The researchers said the medication appeared to specifically reduce nightmares rather than other symptoms associated with PTSD.
More than 33% of patients who received the drug reported that their nightmares disappeared completely. In addition, five out of six patients, or 83.3%, said their overall health had "markedly improved" after treatment.
Prof. Stefan Röpke, one of the researchers, said one of the compounds found in cannabis, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), reduces dream activity.
