Capital One Tops List of Best US Banks for Sixth Consecutive Year

There are more than 4,000 commercial banks in the United States, and with online banking, customers now have access to more financial products and services than ever before.

Those options can make choosing a bank increasingly difficult. Bob Haegele reported for Yahoo Finance.


In its 2025 US National Bank Satisfaction Study, which surveyed 11,626 retail banking customers, J.D. Power ranked nine national banks on a 1,000-point scale. The study’s average score was 666.

Capital One topped the list with a score of 702, marking its sixth consecutive year in first place.


Capital One is the sixth-largest bank in the US by total assets. Unlike many of its peers, it is relatively young, having been founded in 1994 in Richmond, Virginia.

US Bank ranked second with a score of 679.

The fifth-largest bank in the country, US Bank was founded in 1863 and offers services to individuals, businesses, corporations, and commercial clients.


JPMorgan Chase ranked third with a score of 677. Chase is the largest bank in the US, tracing its roots to the 1799 founding of the Bank of Manhattan Co., with the Chase name first appearing in 1877.
