China "Buying or Stealing" U.S. Tech in AI Race, Congress Told

At a congressional hearing, U.S. lawmakers and experts accused China of acquiring artificial intelligence technology through both legal purchases and alleged theft.

Representative John Moolenaar said China is “dependent on our tech stack” and is willing to obtain technology by any means necessary.
Despite an early U.S. lead in AI development, including systems like ChatGPT, advances by Chinese firms and Beijing’s long-term strategy have intensified global competition in the sector.
