China has committed to purchasing at least $17 billion worth of U.S. agricultural products annually from 2026 to 2028, according to a recent White House fact sheet, Reuters reported, citing Katherine Jackson.

The commitment was made during meetings last week between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the White House said.
However, previous Trump-era agreements with Xi on agricultural imports fell short of expectations, including commitments involving corn and soybean purchases.
Analysts and critics have argued that inconsistent import levels contributed to financial strain among some Midwestern farmers. Rising fuel costs have also increased pressure on the U.S. agricultural sector.
