China’s ambitions to expand its global arms exports remain constrained despite rising production and technological advancements, Juliana Liu reported for Bloomberg News.

Although China now ranks among the top five global arms exporters, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), its share of the global market has grown only modestly.
Analysts note that unlike the United States, Russia, or France, China has not been involved in a major modern conflict in decades, limiting real-world combat testing of its systems.
Attention on Chinese military exports increased following a recent clash between India and Pakistan.
Pakistan claimed it used Chinese-made J-10C fighter jets to down Indian aircraft supplied by Western manufacturers, including France. India later acknowledged aircraft losses, though the exact role of Chinese equipment remains unclear.
The brief conflict provided limited insight into the performance of Chinese weapons in modern warfare, but it intensified global scrutiny of Beijing’s defense exports.
Despite this, China continues to promote its military technology to partners, including Iran and other strategic allies, although there is no confirmed evidence of direct deployment of Chinese weapons in the ongoing regional conflict involving the United States and Israel.
