China's exports have fallen for the fourth consecutive month as the "world's factory" grapples with weak demand both domestically and internationally, Peter Hoskins reported this for BBC News.

Official figures reveal that exports dropped by 8.8% in August compared to the same period a year earlier, while imports decreased by 7.3%.

Official figures reveal that exports dropped by 8.8% in August compared to the same period a year earlier, while imports decreased by 7.3%.

Nevertheless, these declines were not as severe as anticipated and represented an improvement compared to the previous month. China faces several post-pandemic challenges, including a property crisis and sluggish consumer spending.

The global decrease in demand for Chinese-made goods is significantly affecting a crucial source of growth for the country's economy.

A new report from the US Census Bureau, released on Wednesday, indicated that China's share of US goods imports declined to its lowest level since 2006 in the year ending in July.

During this period, the share of imported goods from China stood at 14.6%, down from a peak of 21.8% in the year ending March 2018, before former President Donald Trump escalated the US-China trade war.
