The Chinese Ministry of State Security claims that foreign adversaries use deceptive campaigns to gain the trust of Chinese overseas workers, eventually coercing them into revealing state secrets.

The ministry advised overseas workers to remain vigilant about the intentions behind new friendships and to maintain a strong awareness of security.

This warning follows incidents where workers were tricked or threatened into espionage, including a 2019 case where an overseas worker was sentenced to death for selling state secrets.

The Chinese government underscores the importance of caution and resistance to temptations in protecting national security.
