China's Ministry of State Security (MSS) announced that the head of a foreign consultancy had been spying for Britain's MI6 intelligence service, as reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).
The MSS claimed that Huang passed 17 pieces of intelligence, including confidential state secrets, to MI6 before being identified.
According to the MSS, the head of the foreign consulting agency, identified only by the surname Huang, was used by MI6 to establish an "intelligence cooperation relationship."
Huang allegedly entered China multiple times under instructions to collect China-related intelligence for Britain and identify potential personnel for MI6. The MSS claimed that Huang passed 17 pieces of intelligence, including confidential state secrets, to MI6 before being identified.
This revelation follows previous incidents where China raided the offices of US consultancy firm Capvision, questioned staff at the Shanghai branch of American consultancy Bain, and detained workers at the Beijing office of US-based due diligence firm Mintz Group, all citing national security concerns.
