Sean “Diddy” Combs has been convicted of a prostitution-related charge but acquitted of more serious counts of sex trafficking and racketeering that could have put the music mogul behind bars for life, Associated Press reporters Michael B. Sisak, Bridget Brown, and R.J. Rico reported.

The mixed verdict came after three days of jury deliberations.
While Combs, 55, avoided convictions on the most serious allegations—including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking involving Casandra Ventura and a woman identified as Jane—he was found guilty of transporting both women for purposes of prostitution.
Prosecutors had earlier dropped attempted arson and kidnapping charges to streamline their case. The conviction could still lead to a prison sentence of up to 10 years and likely spells the end of Combs’ career as a music executive, entrepreneur, and public figure.
“In light of the fact that Mr. Combs is no longer charged with sex trafficking ... he should be released,” said defense attorney Marc Agnifilo.
Combs' legal team has requested that their client be allowed to return to his Florida home. Prosecutors oppose his release on bail, arguing the convictions warrant continued detention.
