In a new podcast interview with Marc Maron, comedian Conan O’Brien recalled the time he inadvertently pulled a condom out of Donald Trump’s blazer pocket—on live television.

The story resurfaced during a bonus episode of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Alex Welch reported for The Wrap.
“I remember one time I was on your show and I was the second guest after Trump,” Maron said, referring to a 1997 episode of Late Night with Conan O’Brien. “I took a shot at him when he left because—for some reason—he was playing with a condom.”
O’Brien then jumped in to recount the moment in more detail: “He was sitting next to me promoting The Apprentice, I think. I asked, ‘You’re a billionaire—how much cash do you carry on you?’ He said, ‘I don’t know,’ and I said, ‘Come on, how much do you have in your pocket right now?’”
“I reached into his blazer pocket and felt something,” O’Brien continued. “He quickly put his hand over mine like, ‘Don’t pull that out.’ We had this quick tug-of-war, and I pulled out a condom. He said, ‘Safe sex, everybody.’”
Trump reportedly wasn’t amused.
“He was mad,” O’Brien said. “He told my producer, ‘You don’t reach into a guy’s pocket.’ But then three months later: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, Donald Trump!’”
