OPEC+ has agreed to a modest increase in oil production quotas for May, a largely symbolic move as conflict in the Middle East continues to constrain actual supply.

According to Bloomberg News, the group plans to raise output targets by about 206,000 barrels per day following a virtual meeting of key producers including Saudi Arabia and Russia.
However, disruptions linked to regional tensions have limited exports from several major producers, meaning the additional quotas may not translate into immediate supply increases.
Oil prices have surged in recent weeks, with Brent crude nearing $109 per barrel after earlier approaching $120 amid fears of prolonged disruption through the Strait of Hormuz.
The move signals OPEC+’s intention to increase supply when conditions stabilize, even as current constraints persist.
