The advisory warns travelers to avoid photographing areas that may be considered security-sensitive, including military facilities, airports, train stations, ports, embassies, and government buildings.

Officials said travelers could face questioning or detention in some countries if authorities interpret photography activities as suspicious or linked to espionage concerns.

The ministry noted heightened risks in countries with strict national security laws, including China, where multiple Japanese nationals have reportedly been detained since anti-espionage legislation took effect.

Authorities also warned that travelers in conflict-prone regions should avoid photographing military sites or damaged infrastructure following attacks.
