Israel has struck a major petrochemical facility at Iran’s South Pars gas field and reportedly killed a senior Revolutionary Guard commander, raising concerns over ongoing ceasefire efforts between Washington and Tehran.

The attack targeted what Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz described as “the largest petrochemical facility in Iran,” responsible for a significant share of the country’s production, according to reporting by the Associated Press (AP).
Military spokesperson Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani said Iran would face continued strikes despite diplomatic efforts.
The South Pars field, shared with Qatar, is the world’s largest natural gas field and lies beneath the Persian Gulf.
Iranian missiles reportedly struck the northern Israeli city of Haifa, where four people were killed when a residential building collapsed.
Explosions were also reported in Tehran, where multiple targets were hit. Among those killed was Maj. Gen. Majid Khademi, head of intelligence for Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard. Israel also said it killed Asghar Bakeri, a senior figure in the Quds Force.
