Toyota Motor Corp. has reported that its global production fell by 0.6% in July compared to the previous year, totaling 804,610 vehicles, Kyodo News reported.

Toyota's global sales declined 0.2% to 857,982 units, driven by fewer business days in North America and increased competition from affordable electric vehicles (EVs) in China. I Photo: TOYOTA
While this marked the sixth consecutive month of production decline, it was the smallest drop in that period, supported by solid domestic output. Toyota's domestic production saw a modest 0.1% increase to 309,118 vehicles, following a significant 18.8% drop in June.
The automaker resumed manufacturing the Prius in mid-June after suspending production in April due to a recall, compensating for halted production of other models amid a vehicle certification scandal.
However, overseas production fell 1.0% to 495,492 vehicles, with robust production in North America and Europe offset by a 9.6% drop in China. Toyota's global sales declined 0.2% to 857,982 units, driven by fewer business days in North America and increased competition from affordable electric vehicles (EVs) in China.
