CREC Empowers Education

In anticipation of the upcoming 2023 academic year, Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) proudly unveils its impactful commitment to bolstering education through two significant initiatives – Brigada Eskwela and Balik Eskwela.

Empowering Education: CREC's Dedication Shines Through Brigada Eskwela and Balik Eskwela Initiatives

Established in 2019, the Brigada Eskwela program symbolizes CREC's unwavering dedication to uplifting public schools located near its facilities.

By providing crucial school supplies, construction materials, and vital assistance, this program equips recipient schools to greet students with the necessary resources for a successful academic journey.

This year, CREC introduced its Balik Eskwela initiative, running alongside Brigada Eskwela.

Going beyond institutions, Balik Eskwela extends a compassionate hand to elementary school students, ensuring they receive essential school supplies. These comprehensive packs, comprising backpacks, notebooks, crayons, pencils, and raincoats, become invaluable tools, especially during adverse weather conditions.

With an unyielding commitment to community enhancement, CREC's Brigada Eskwela program is set to uplift 20 schools across 18 barangays spanning Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

These include provinces like Pampanga, Bulacan, Cebu, Negros Occidental, South Cotabato, Tarlac, and Batangas.

Concurrently, the Balik Eskwela initiative aims to support 1,100 students in grades 1-3 within CREC's host communities. Both initiatives fall under the Citicore Foundation, firmly rooted in CREC's profound sense of social responsibility.

At a recent turnover ceremony in Tuy, Batangas – one of CREC’s host communities – Mayor Jose Jecerell Cerrado expressed gratitude for CREC's ongoing support to the municipality. "This presents a significant opportunity for the Municipality of Tuy," he stated.

Reflecting on these transformative efforts, Ms. Fiona Rose Nicolas, CREC Head of Corporate Affairs and Foundation remarked, "Our programs, like Brigada and Balik Eskwela, are meticulously designed to empower educational institutions and learners alike. We firmly believe that education is the cornerstone of societal progress."

In addition to these impactful programs, CREC furthers its mission through the ongoing implementation of the Brigada Basa and Usbong Scholarship programs, providing continuous support to students on their educational journeys.
