DILG CHIEF SCOLDS NCRPO HEAD FOR HOLDING BIRTHDAY BASH

Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano has scolded National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas for holding his birthday party at the Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City and said “delicadeza” should encourage officials under the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) not to hold birthday celebrations and mass gatherings while the lockdown against the COVID-19 is in force.

Ano used to be an Army general and chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and is key player in the Interagency Task Force (IATF) that is charged with enforcing a so-called enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) all over the National Capital Region (NCR.)

While Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Gamboa said he found no violation of ECQ rules during the birthday bash, Ano apparently wants Sinas investigated due to photos circulating social media showing Sinas blowing the candles on his birthday cake and hobnobbing with police generals and other officials during an organized birthday gathering in clear violation of “physical distancing” rules. Año later asserted that he will leave the investigation on Sinas and NCRPO cops to the Philippine National Police. #COVID19PH
