Over the next 10 years, Disney plans to allocate $60 billion to its Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products segment, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing coinciding with its investor summit taking place this week.
This investment is approximately double what it spent in the most recent 10-year period.
The move comes as the company faces revenue challenges in its streaming services, movies, and television assets, but not in its international theme parks.
NBCUniversal's Universal Epic Universe is set to open in Orlando, Florida, in 2025.
The theme park, which was announced in 2019, is designed to include restaurants, hotels, and, of course, rides. It will become the third theme park within the Universal Orlando Resort, intensifying its competition with Walt Disney World's four theme parks.
Disney stated recently that it is focused on "expanding and enhancing" its theme parks, both in the US and internationally, as well as its cruise lines.
The company also mentioned having "over 1,000 acres of land for potential future development to expand theme park space across its existing sites" in a blog post published on Tuesday, though it did not provide specifics.
