DR. RICK BRIGHT: TRUMP UNPREPARED FOR PANDEMIC

Whistleblower Dr. Richard Bright has told the US Congress that he was ousted from his position at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) for insisting that the Trump administration purchase surgical masks, ventilators and speed up the development of vaccines and stop pushing for the use of the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19, which President Trump championed only to fall silent when the drug was proven to cause coronary diseases among pandemic victims.

In reports by the Associated Press and CNN early on Friday, May 15, 2020, Bright told Congress that "without better planning, 2020 could be darkest winter in modern history" and called on scientists to speak without fear of retribution after the Trump administration slammed Dr. Anthony Fauci for warning about more deaths and COVID-19 cases if the economy were opened precipitately.

Bright said there was no "master coordinated plan" even as it was known back in 2007 that there were not enough respirators, ventilators, personal protective equipment (PPEs) and little support was given to intensify the search for vaccines against diseases caused by coronaviruses.

Dismissing Bright as a “testy, nasty fellow who should not work with government,” Trump could not speak on why the ousted scientist was given a glowing performance review just before he clashed with his superiors on the issue of surgical masks, vaccines and the inordinate Trump promotion of hyudroxychloroquine as a cure for COVID-19 like his Clorox therapy and UV light injections, all of which confirmed Trump’s ignorance about issues big and small.
