Maryanne Trump Barry, 83, President Donald Trump’s eldest sister, has described him in 15 hours of taped conversations with niece Mary Trump in 2018 as having no principles, being phony, cruel and a liar.

Writing for Daily Mail in London, Rachel Sharp noted in her August 23, 2020 article that Barry, a retired federal judge, said: “He has no principles. None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.' She added: “His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God… 'I'm talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy shit.'

The story, broken by the Washington Post and carried by New York Times and all broadcast networks in the US, was based on the discussions taped by Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist, daughter of the Donald’s deceased elder brother Freddy, who also wrote the best-selling book “Too Much but Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Dangerous Man.”

Barry said in the secretly-taped conversations that Donald was “cruel,” “phony” and “a brat” and she did his homework for him before someone else took his exams to get him into college. 'He went to Fordham for one year [this was actually two years] and then he got into University of Pennsylvania because he had somebody take the exams.” Barry said her brother's achievements on his own merits were “five bankruptcies.” Barry added that Donald does not read and is glued to Fox News most of the day.
