Billionaire Elon Musk criticized philanthropist MacKenzie Scott's charitable giving, saying it is "making the world a worse place," Sydney Lake reported for Fortune.

Scott has donated more than $26 billion through her Yield Giving initiative to thousands of organizations over the past several years, making her one of the largest individual philanthropists in history.
Musk's remarks came after social media outlet Pubity highlighted Scott's philanthropy on X. Responding to another user's comment that Scott's donations were making the world "a worse place," Musk replied, "Sadly, yes."
Musk has previously said philanthropy is challenging despite expressing support for helping others.
During a December 2025 interview on Nikhil Kamath's WTF podcast, Musk said, "I agree with love of humanity, and I think we should try to do things that help our fellow human beings. But it's very hard."
