EU CHIEF IN SELF-ISOLATION AFTER CONTACT WITH COVID-19 VICTIM

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has gone into self-isolation after recently coming into contact with a person with COVID-19, she wrote on Twitter on Monday, October 5, 2020, Ella Joyner reported for Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa.)

"I've been informed that I participated in a meeting last Tuesday attended by a person who yesterday tested positive for COVID-19," she wrote. Von der Leyen said she had already had one negative coronavirus test, on Thursday, and was set to take another one later on Monday. She said she would be in self-isolation until early on Tuesday, "in
The top EU official is due to take part in summit talks with Ukrainian officials in Brussels on Tuesday afternoon, and to travel to Athens later this week, according to her calendar.
Two weeks ago, her colleague European Council President Charles Michel also had to go into quarantine, causing the delay of an EU summit by one week. He subsequently tested negative for the virus.
