The European Union has summoned Russia’s envoy in Brussels after a massive strike severely damaged the bloc’s delegation in Kyiv, Jose Liboreiro reported for Euronews.

“No diplomatic mission should ever be a target,” EU High Representative Kaja Kallas said as she announced the summons of Kremlin chargé d’affaires Karen Malayan. The meeting was expected later that day.
The overnight barrage of 629 missiles and drones killed at least 17 people, including four children, and left dozens injured while causing widespread destruction across Kyiv.
Two Russian missiles struck within 50 meters of the EU offices in just 20 seconds.
“While the world seeks a path to peace, Russia responds with missiles,” Kallas said.
“The overnight attack on Kyiv shows a deliberate choice to escalate and mock peace efforts. Russia must stop the killing and negotiate.”
Despite the damage, the EU delegation said it remains “fully operational” and “open.” The British Council in Kyiv was also damaged in the strikes, prompting the UK government to summon Russia’s ambassador in London.
