The European Union will pitch the United States on a critical minerals partnership aimed at reducing China’s dominance of global supply chains, as the Trump administration pushes to strike new international agreements this week, the Associated Press and Bloomberg News reported.

The EU is prepared to sign a memorandum of understanding with the US to develop a “Strategic Partnership Roadmap” within three months, according to people familiar with the discussions.
The proposed partnership would focus on jointly sourcing critical minerals needed for modern technologies while reducing dependence on China.
Both the US and EU remain heavily reliant on inexpensive Chinese minerals, giving Beijing significant leverage over their supply chains. The proposal outlines several pathways to ease that dependence, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the deliberations.
