Countries including Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Spain and Colombia have all expanded the global reach of their television industries.

However, each has experienced a decline in domestic demand for locally produced shows.

The report noted that the irony of becoming a successful content exporter is that cultural exchange works both ways. As audiences abroad embrace a country's productions, viewers at home increasingly consume programming from other nations.

Several factors have contributed to the trend, including reduced output from US studios, the global expansion of streaming platforms and growing acceptance of foreign-language programming.

For streaming companies, the report argues that the objective should not simply be producing local content for domestic audiences, but creating authentic productions capable of attracting viewers worldwide.
