Iran executed at least seven people on Saturday, including two women, amid an intensification of its use of capital punishment, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.
Iran executes more women than any other country, with many being victims of forced or abusive marriages.
Parvin Mousavi, 53, a mother of two, was executed in Urmia prison in northwestern Iran along with five men convicted of drug-related offenses, according to the Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR).
In Nishapur, eastern Iran, a 27-year-old woman named Fatemeh Abdullahi was hanged for murdering her husband, who was also her cousin.
IHR reported at least 223 executions in Iran this year, with over 50 occurring in May alone.
A surge in executions began after the Persian New Year and Ramadan holidays in April, with 115 people, including six women, executed since then. Iran executes more women than any other country, with many being victims of forced or abusive marriages.
