Tehran has indicated it may allow Japanese-affiliated vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway through which 93% of Japan’s imported crude oil flows, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview, Jesse Johnson reported for The Japan Times..

Discussions between Iran and Japan are already underway, according to a transcript of Araghchi’s interview with Kyodo News.
He said the issue was raised during a recent phone call with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
Speaking on a television program, Motegi declined to provide details but said the conversation emphasized that halting trade—including container shipments—would be detrimental.
