CNBC reporter Brian Schwartz broke the news that the major retailer was "opting out of sponsoring Donald Trump's Republican National Convention" later this summer.
"They become a major company in the state to announce they won't sponsor the event," Schwartz added.
The report was confirmed by a Kohl's spokeswoman who said, “Kohl’s is not a political organization nor donor and is not sponsoring nor engaging in any specific RNC events.”
About 50,000 people are expected to rally in Milwaukee from July 15-18, when Trump is expected to be crowned the leading candidate, according to the report.
The convention also takes place days after Trump is slated to face sentencing in Manhattan criminal court on July 11 after he was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records.
