Financial markets remained unsettled as investors weighed uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve's policy outlook against stronger-than-expected earnings from Microsoft, Barron's Daily reported.

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, presiding over his second policy meeting as chairman, offered few clues about the future path of interest rates after the central bank held rates steady for a fifth consecutive meeting.
Warsh reiterated the Federal Reserve's commitment to restoring inflation to its 2-percent target, while declining to provide forward guidance on future policy decisions.
The uncertainty contributed to a sharp steepening of the U.S. Treasury yield curve, with short-term yields falling and long-term yields rising.
Stocks also came under pressure before Microsoft's stronger-than-expected quarterly results helped improve investor sentiment.
Microsoft reported its strongest cloud revenue growth since 2022, while slower growth in AI-related capital spending also reassured investors. The company's shares rose about 4 percent in after-hours trading.
