Major rivers, waterways, and reservoirs are at risk of dangerous floods, prompting the government to enact emergency response plans.

Local weather officials have described the situation as "grim," noting that sections of rivers and tributaries are experiencing rare spikes in water levels, with only a one-in-50 chance of occurring in any given year.

The China Water Resource Ministry issued an emergency advisory in response to the escalating situation.

To mitigate the impact of potential natural disasters, Guangdong officials have urged local departments to implement emergency planning measures promptly.

Efforts are underway to disperse disaster relief funds and materials to ensure affected residents have access to essential necessities such as food, clothing, water, and shelter. The province, known for its significant economic activities, has been experiencing heavy rainfall and strong winds, exacerbating the flooding risk.
