Michael Cohen, the former lawyer-turned-critic of President Donald Trump, said he plans to apply for compensation through the Justice Department’s new “anti-weaponization fund,” according to CBS News.

Cohen said he intends to submit a request directly to the Justice Department, arguing that the circumstances surrounding his legal troubles mirror the allegations underlying Trump’s lawsuit against the government.
The controversial $1.776 billion fund was announced earlier this week and is intended to compensate individuals who claim the legal system was “weaponized” against them.
It reportedly stems from a settlement involving Trump’s lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service over the leak of his tax returns.
Cohen argued the alleged harms he suffered—including damage to his legal career, finances, and reputation—justify his eligibility for compensation.
