Microsoft is encouraging users to “talk to their laptops” as it rolls out new artificial intelligence (AI) updates for Windows 11 while urging customers to move away from Windows 10, Matt O’Brien reported for the Associated Press (AP).

The company ended free security support for Windows 10 this week, even as millions continue to use PCs running the older operating system.
To accelerate migration, Microsoft unveiled new Windows 11 features that further integrate its AI assistant, Copilot, into the user experience.
Among the upgrades is a voice mode allowing users to start conversations by saying “Hey, Copilot”, instead of typing or clicking. Windows 10 was launched a decade ago, followed by Windows 11 in 2021, but many devices — especially older ones — remain incompatible with the newer version.
Consumer advocates have been urging Microsoft to extend technical support for hundreds of millions of Windows 10 devices that will otherwise lose access to automatic security fixes.
