The Defense Ministry and Army disciplinary committees approved the dismissal of Lt. Gen. Yeo In-hyung, head of the Defense Counterintelligence Command; Maj. Gen. Moon Sang-ho, head of the Defense Intelligence Command; Lt. Gen. Lee Jin-woo, head of the Capital Defense Command; and Lt. Gen. Kwak Jong-keun, chief of the Army Special Warfare Command.

The four commanders are alleged to have played roles in the martial law operation during Yoon’s botched attempt on Dec. 3. The dismissals have taken effect following official notification by the ministry.

Additionally, the Defense Ministry is conducting a legal review to determine potential disciplinary measures for Army Chief of Staff Gen. Park An-su, who served as the martial law commander during the failed coup.
