Millions of demonstrators filled streets, parks, and plazas across the U.S. for nationwide "No Kings" protests against President Donald Trump, the Boston Globe reported.

The protests remained peaceful across hundreds of locations, with particularly strong turnouts reported in New England.

The demonstrations came in stark contrast to a lackluster turnout for Trump’s military parade in Washington, D.C., held to mark both his 79th birthday and the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.

While Trump had claimed that 250,000 “patriots” would attend, fewer than 5,000 people showed up, according to Mirror US reporters Mataeo Smith and Anthony Orrico.

The $75-million parade, mocked online for its sparse crowds and questionable production value, drew scorn from critics.

Reddit users and commentators derided everything from the use of canned crowd noise to the rainy weather that disrupted flyovers and forced the parade to start early.

"There were thousands more at our No Kings protest in Springfield, MO today. LOL," wrote one user. Others questioned the cost and oversight: “The crappy mix engineer... Kind of hilarious, in a waste-of-my-tax-money kind of way,” another said.
