Moneybags Aren’t Abandoning New York City

No, the rich aren’t leaving New York.

As incoming mayor and self-described democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani prepares to take office, new data shows fears of a wealthy folk-exodus—spread by backers of Andrew Cuomo and soon-to-be former Mayor Eric Adams—may have been premature, Bloomberg News reported.
Sales of luxury homes in Manhattan jumped in November, with buyers signing contracts on 176 properties priced at $4 million or more, up 25% from the 141 deals inked the month prior.
That included condos at The 74 on the Upper East Side and at 53 West 53rd St. on Billionaires’ Row, which were purchased for roughly $24 million each.
This development contradicts Donald Trump’s declaration that New York City would be impoverished with Mamdani at the helm of City Hall and that the federal government would freeze financial support to the city.
Mamdani eventually met with Trump to show him that “the monster” was charming and more intelligent than he was.
