MPower And JX Metals: Rekindling A Sustainable Partnership

JX Metals Philippines Inc. has once again chosen MPower as its retail electricity supplier in a move reaffirming a longstanding commitment to sustainable energy and solidifying a decades-old partnership.

This renewed collaboration, which began in 2013, marks a significant step towards enhancing the energy efficiency and sustainability of JX Metals’ operations at their manufacturing plant in Biñan, Laguna.

The official signing ceremony featured prominent leaders from both companies: JX Metals General Manager, Legal & Business Administration Atty. Delia Uy, JX Metals President Michiya Kohiki, Meralco First Vice President and MPower Head Redel Domingo, and Meralco Senior Assistant Vice President and MPower Retail Sales Head Eddie John Adug.

Meralco First Vice President and MPower Head Redel M. Domingo highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “This 2024, MPower is proud to reinstate our commitment to being a trusted partner of JX Metals. We are confident that we will be able to support the company’s evolving requirements, especially with One Meralco’s wide suite of services that are meant to add value to its business operations.”

JX Metals’ President Michiya Kohiki expressed optimism about the renewed partnership: “I hope to continue this good relationship as we contribute to the development of a sustainable economy and society through innovation.”

Beyond energy supply, MPower extends a suite of value-adding services through Meralco subsidiaries like MServ, Meralco Power Academy, Radius, and Bayad, enhancing JX Metals' operational efficiency and sustainability.

MPower, a subsidiary of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), is recognized for its competitive renewable energy (RE) portfolio. This partnership with JX Metals builds on an impressive roster of MPower’s clientele.

Since its inception in 1998, JX Metals Philippines Inc. has been a leader in producing high-end Treated Roll Copper Foil and Electro Deposited Copper Foil for the electronics industry in Southeast Asia, China, Korea, and Japan.

Their shift towards renewable energy in 2022 underscores their dedication to sustainability, aligning perfectly with MPower’s expanding renewable energy capacity.
