This significant project, inaugurated by officials from both companies, marks a new chapter in renewable energy utilization for the Japanese manufacturing firm.

The 726 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar project, located at Citizen Finedevice’s manufacturing site in Sto. Tomas, is anticipated to generate around 1.055 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean energy annually.

This output will substantially decrease the company’s carbon footprint by approximately 751 metric tons each year—equivalent to planting over 34,500 trees or cutting down 1.8 million kilometers in vehicle travel.

Tomoya Koyama, President of Citizen Finedevice Philippines, highlighted the importance of this venture, stating, “Sustainability has always been rooted in the work that we, at Citizen Finedevice Philippines Corporation, do. We see our partnership with MSpectrum as the catalyst for our green energy journey. Our partnership with MSpectrum has led to significant energy savings and carbon footprint reductions. Through this partnership, we are now prepared to go even further in our sustainability journey.”

Echoing this sentiment, Patrick Henry T. Panlilio, Chief Operating Officer of MSpectrum, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting its partners’ sustainability and financial goals.

“MSpectrum strives to provide our partners with the means to achieve their sustainability and financial goals. We do this through our end-to-end solar energy offering, which utilizes top-tier quality and reliable services to empower sustainable operations for Citizen Finedevice. With this partnership, we commit to providing Citizen Finedevice with the necessary support they will need from us to continue to move forward towards becoming a more sustainable business,” Panlilio said.

Citizen Finedevice, known for its precise metal machined components for various gadgets and devices, stands to gain immensely from this green energy project. With MSpectrum and Meralco's expertise, the company can look forward to more efficient and sustainable energy consumption patterns.

Meralco Bolsters Voter Registration with COMELEC Partnership

In another significant initiative, Meralco has partnered with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to drive the Register Anywhere Program (RAP), aimed at boosting voter registration ahead of the 2025 midterm elections.

This collaboration, which began in February at Meralco’s headquarters in Pasig City, recently saw another round of registration drives on June 20 and 21.

Meralco’s North and South area offices in Valenzuela City and Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, hosted the RAP, accommodating employees and their dependents. This effort underscores Meralco’s commitment to civic engagement and democratic participation.

“Meralco’s support in the COMELEC’s RAP not only encourages our employees to exercise their right to vote but also exhibits the company’s commitment to actively participate in the initiatives of the government to strengthen the foundation of the electoral process and promote democracy,” said Ronnie L. Aperocho, Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

These initiatives by Meralco and its subsidiaries highlight the company’s dedication to sustainability and civic responsibility, setting a benchmark for corporate social responsibility in the Philippines.
