The American Federation of Musicians (AFM) is pushing back against Donald Trump after his latest online tirades targeted Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift, Hannah Dailey reported for Billboard.

Hours after Trump claimed Swift is no longer “hot” and called Springsteen “dumb as a rock” in posts on Truth Social, AFM International President Tino Gagliardi issued a sharply worded response defending both artists.
“The American Federation of Musicians of the US and Canada will not remain silent as two of our members are personally attacked by the President of the United States,” Gagliardi stated.
“Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift are not just brilliant musicians; they are role models and inspirations to millions. Their work—from Born in the USA to the Eras Tour—is timeless and culturally vital,” he added.
Gagliardi also reaffirmed the union’s commitment to protecting the right of musicians to express themselves freely. Both Springsteen and Swift are longtime AFM members—Swift through her Nashville local, and Springsteen through chapters in New Jersey and Los Angeles.
