A New Zealand product that boasts of inherent bio-security features and which functions as the first defense against COVID-19 is now in the country.

Dubbed Sweetmat Disinfection Mats, the product has an innovative hydraulic pressure design built into the mat that ensures that as a person or vehicle moves over the mat, the disinfection solution is pushed up into the tread or the tire or the footwear.

Thus, the hydraulic pressure embedded in the Sweetmat Disinfection Mats ensures thorough sanitization into all areas of contamination.

Developed by Shoof International and widely used in the bio-security application in New Zealand in addressing threats that include mad cow disease, Asian bird flu, and  swine flu, the product is seen as the first line of defense against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The entry of the bio-security  enhanced Sweetmat, which boasts of its patented use of Dabond thread used in military applications, was made possible with Shoof International’s partnership with Grupo Urbina, an emerging marketing enterprise that boasts of various product innovations for application in the country.

Shoof International CEO Adam Bateman said the company, which has been in the business for 47 years developing, manufacturing and distributing a large range of quality and innovative products used throughout the world, is “very excited to partner with Grupo Urbina in distributing the Sweetmat Disinfection Mats in the country.

“I am happy to see that Sweetmat Disinfection Mats are now available from Grupo Urbina throughout the Philippines. Sweetmat, the original disinfection mat is designed and manufactured in New Zealand to stop infection at the door,” Shoof export manager Ryan Bailey said.

Sweetmats are an effective tool in the Philippines’ arsenal against COVID-19, he added.

Grupo Urbina CEO Gerry Urbina said the company is exhilarated at the prospects of cutting down the transmissions of COVID-19 with the Sweetmat Disinfection Mats that can be considered the first line of defense against the pandemic.

Urbina also said that his company welcomes the introduction of Sweetmats in the country since New Zealand has the best bio-security protocol in the world.

Companies and enterprises and even households can rely on the New Zealand mats to “stay a step ahead of COVID- 19 infection.” This innovative product “leaves infection at the door,”  Urbina said.
