In 2022, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened the investigation into certain Ford Bronco vehicles equipped with 2.7L EcoBoost engines due to concerns about a faulty valvetrain.
The probe was later expanded to include other models, such as the Edge, F-150, and Explorer, that have the same engine.
Earlier this year, Ford submitted a recall request to inspect vehicles with the affected engine to determine if a motor replacement was necessary. Ford also announced it would provide extended warranty coverage on these vehicles for 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.
