Outstanding women leaders and loyal employees took center stage at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s Women’s Month culminating event dubbed “DAKILA: A Celebration of Fine Women,” held at the PAGCOR Corporate Office in Pasay City.

The agency conferred the Dakilang Babaylan Award on four women for their leadership and influence: San Juan City Rep. Ysabel J. Zamora-Jornada, Iloilo City Mayor Raisa S. Treñas, Manila Vice Mayor Chi I. Atienza, and John Clements Consultants, Inc. President and CEO Carol V. Dominguez.

PAGCOR also conferred the Dakilang Juana Award on three long-serving personnel for their professionalism, loyalty, and contributions to the agency’s success: Zenaida Gebaña of Casino Filipino Tagaytay (40 years in service), Jocelyn Sales of Casino Filipino Bacolod (39 years), and Elsa Carreon of Casino Filipino Malabon Grand (37 years).

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco said the awards reflect the enduring spirit of the Babaylan—pre-colonial Filipino women who were revered as leaders, healers, and guides.

“Today, we may no longer use the word Babaylan in everyday conversation, but we certainly recognize its undying spirit,” Mr. Tengco said.

He added that PAGCOR’s observance of Women’s Month underscores the organization’s commitment to an inclusive and empowering workplace.

“As we move forward, may we continue to support one another and nurture a workplace where everyone—women and men alike—can grow, lead, and succeed,” he said.

Throughout March, PAGCOR held activities promoting women’s empowerment and well-being, including health and wellness webinars, Zumba sessions, a women’s bazaar, an all-women bingo event, and a Lenten season pilgrimage.
