In a statement, Alejandro H. Tengco, PAGCOR chairman and chief executive officer, said the government's gaming regulator and operator intends to launch its own online gaming operations under the name "casinofilipino.com."
Scheduled for a launch in the first quarter of 2024, the online platform will extend the offerings of the state-owned Casino Filipino venues, providing players with a digital gambling experience.
Tengco said the goal of the online Casino Filipino is to utilize virtual reality technology, which can replicate the visual and auditory aspects of a physical casino.
"It will allow players to interact with the digital counterparts of traditional casino games. It will also transcend physical boundaries and will enable users from around the world to interact and participate in virtual environments,” Tengco said
“It can reach a global audience and can establish a presence in virtual communities of avid gamers. It will likewise offer an opportunity to tap into new markets and diversify its customer base,” he added.
The PAGCOR chief said the introduction of the online Casino Filipino will result in higher revenue, an expanded market reach, increased cost efficiency, and improved customer engagement.
In addition to introducing the new gaming offering, Tengco said PAGCOR intends to modernize its slot machines by acquiring 3,500 state-of-the-art Electronic Gaming Machines.
Tengco said the upgrade of the slot machines will be carried out through a lease agreement between PAGCOR and a manufacturer, which is currently being negotiated.
“The modernization plan also includes the development of the state-run gaming and regulatory firm’s Information Technology (IT) programs and systems to help finetune PAGCOR’s Casino Management System,” he added.
Tengco said this initiative will have a crucial impact on enhancing various aspects of PAGCOR’s casinos, such as operational efficiency, enhancing the overall customer experience, and enabling real-time reporting and analytics. He added that it will also ensure robust security measures and fraud prevention, optimize financial management, and streamline compliance requirements.
