Paula Abdul, Grammy-winning entertainer and former judge on "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance," has filed a lawsuit against Nigel Lythgoe, the executive producer of these programs, accusing him of sexual assault, harassment, gender violence, and negligence.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, and details two separate incidents that Abdul alleges occurred in the early 2000s and in 2015. In the first incident during regional auditions for "American Idol," Abdul claims Lythgoe shoved her against the wall of an elevator, groped her, and kissed her.
The complaint states that Abdul tried to resist and made it clear that his behavior was unacceptable.
In the second incident, which took place during a business dinner at Lythgoe's home in 2015, Abdul alleges that Lythgoe forced himself on top of her and attempted to kiss her. Abdul, once again, rejected his advances, emphasizing that she was not interested in his actions, believing the meeting to be purely professional.
The lawsuit brings serious allegations against Lythgoe, and the legal process will determine the outcome of these accusations.
